| Nukezone.nuSo out of sheer boredom at work today, I decided to go online and check out nukezone to see if my old clan was still there (Sooner Nation). I was pleased to see that not only was it doing well, it is #5 in the ALL TIME NW clans. They have won it a few times, and are in the running for the award almost every round. Its nice to see when something you were there to help build up (I dont think I was there when it was first founded, I think I joined the round after...not quite sure anymore) takes off and becomes what you always dreamed it to be.
All that to say this: James, are you still playing? And if so, can I get in again?
Thanks!

| Off we go, into the wild blue yonder...So I have started research now. It is actually really fun, and I have enjoyed learning new techniques and trying different ways to do the same thing. The new gel purification method I have learned is very interesting, but also quite fast once you get the hang of it. Who knew you could just insert a filter paper and membrane into the gel, let the DNA run onto it, then just spin the filter and membrane inside a homemade "column" to elute. Its quite efficient. The project itself is coming along quite nicely. Im not sure what I can tell you about it, or how much many of you would understand, so suffice it to say Im working on the cell cycle, nondisjunction, and cancer. Thats all you really need to know anyway.
Life outside of school is fun. I get to come home and not worry about what I do or do not retain from the days frantic studying, and the weekends are about as relaxing as I could ask for. I dont know how long its going to last, but Im going to milk it for all its worth.
Well I better get back to work. I have to run another gel to make sure that I made something the right way. Otherwise today may be a huge waste of time. Keep your fingers crossed for me...

| OK...it has been well over a year since my last post, so you would think I have a lot to say. Well I don't really. About 3 really awesome things happened since my last post. First and foremost, I got married on May 20, 2006 to Sarah Crain (now Sarah Wu, obviously). For those of you who didnt know that, you are either living under a rock, or don't really know me that well and therefore this stuff wont really bother you. Second, I have finished my board exams (USMLE Step 1), last Thursday and am now working as a full time graduate student. Im currently at the OMRF, under Dr. Susannah Rankin, on Cohesin, Sororin, and the cell cycle. Basically Im looking at why nondisjunction occurs and if there are ways to regulate it. (In layman's terms, Im looking at why trisomys (Down syndrome, Cornelia deLange syndrome, Robert's syndrome) occur. Third, ummm...third...ahhh....ummm....uhhh....third....lets see...yep!
Other than that, my life has been consumed by studying, studying, and trying really hard to not get distracted from studying. This, of course, has changed since I am now not in lecture halls listening to professors anymore. Quite a shock, and a paradigm shift as well. Go to work, come home...relax?!?! I get to relax? I dont have to remember what tick transfers the Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and is also the same vector that transfers Fransciela tularensis. ROCK ON!
Therefore, I have found a new game. Its called Rappelz, an online RPG that is totally free to play. Yes you can buy fancy new items for money (real money, not the online kind), but I dont need those things, and therefore it is free for me :P. Its fun, and if you are not one to get completely obsessed or addicted to a game, you could give it a try. Totally up to you :).
Well...Im out for now...time to get back to my pCAD-G2 digestion. I'll catch you all later.

| Hello everyone, from the land of Medical School. Actually from the land of break between medical school semesters. It was a pretty fun semester, but I had to study a lot and therefore had no time for Xanga (though I did have time for Sarah, World of Warcraft, and hanging out with friends). In any case, Im sorry for the long absence, and I will fill you in with a brief paragraph, in list form!
Med School is fun and challenging. Evertt Tower (one of the hospitals on the campus) cafeteria food is decent and cheap. My mod is awesome. Classes have stuffed my brain full of stuff I have already begun to purge with copious amounts of sleep. Im getting married in May, and the wedding plans are going well (I think all the big details are done, which means its Sarah's turn to do everything (not that she didnt before, but now I have NO responsibilities, other than finding a DJ...)). Trying to buy a house, hopefully one in Moore (got any good leads? POST!)
OK...that about does it for the whirlwind tour of my semster. Look me up on facebook if you get a chance!
